W-M shut out in nightcap with Irrigon

ATHENA - Weston-McEwen beat Irrigon, 8-2, in the opener of a Special District 5 doubleheader but was shutout, 13-0, in the nightcap.

W-M's Morgan Entze just missed the cycle in the opener, collecting three hits - a double, triple and single.

The TigerScots (9-7 overall, 4-5 league) are currently in third place in the SD 5.

"It was one of those days that the coach doesn't have all the answers," W-M coach Jeff Griggs said. "We jumped on them early in that first game and scored runs in multiple innings. We face the same pitching in the second game and we didn't score at all. We didn't look like the same team."

Weston-McEwen plays again Tuesday in Athena against Pilot Rock at 4:30 p.m. in a single game.
