Audobon Society sponsors free nature hike, bird presentation

WALLA WALLA -- The Audubon Society is taking a bird, butterfly and wildflower viewing field trip to Jasper Mountain on Saturday. Participants will meet at 8 a.m. in the Harper Joy Theatre parking lot on the Whitman College Campus, 345 Boyer Ave. and carpool from there. The tour will finish at 4 p.m.

The outing will be led by Mike and MerryLynn Denny. Participants are asked to contact the Dennys to reserve a space, to bring lunch and binoculars and prepare for some hiking. For more information, email m.denny@charter.net.

The birds and mountains of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem are the topic of presenter Bob Carson at the Society's public meeting, 7:30-9 p.m. on May 17. Meetings are held in Gaiser Auditorium, Hall of Science, Whitman College, 345 Boyer Ave. Also on view will be bird photography by Clare Carson.
