Walla Walla Public Schools has proclaimed May as "Partners in Learning Month" as a way to acknowledge the numerous business leaders, agencies and individuals who help ensure all Walla Walla children have opportunities for success in school. Our vision is "Excellence in Every Classroom" and these partners help us put this statement into practice.

The district named the Washington State Penitentiary, Total Office Concepts, Inc. and the Walla Walla YMCA as this year's "Partners of the Year."

In October of each school year, our students look forward to the "Great Pumpkin" deliveries from the Washington State Penitentiary. Elementary children select their very own pumpkins for Halloween. The Washington State Penitentiary's Employees Association believes in the power of education and each fall they donate boxes of school supplies for our students. We appreciate Superintendent Steve Sinclair and the employees of the Washington State Penitentiary for their ongoing support.

Total Office Concepts, Inc. manages the district's copier services. In addition to providing exceptional and timely customer service, their prices are competitive and offer taxpayers great value. They recently donated 50,000 pieces of paper to support our classrooms. We truly enjoy working with owners Mark and Dave Carlile and the entire TOC staff.

The Walla Walla YMCA offers students and staff wellness and fitness programs and activities. The YMCA provides a healthy and safe environment where positive behavior is modeled. Our kids are taught the value of exercise to develop strong bodies and minds. We appreiate Executive Director Randy Grant and the YMCA staff for their continued support and passion for Walla Walla youth.

Please join me in thanking these outstanding community partners for helping our students become outstanding citizens by supporting a first-class public education system.
