Weston-McEwen sweeps previous champs, Stanfield

STANFIELD, Ore. - Weston-McEwen swept the 2011 Class 2A/1A state champions Stanfield, 2-0 and 13-10, Friday in Special District 6 baseball.

With the win, the TigerScots are now ranked No. 1 in their classification.

W-M (18-4, 13-1) plays the winner of Horizon Christian versus Stanfield in the district championship Saturday at 2 p.m. in Pendleton.

Dallas Reich pitched a complete-game shutout in the opener of the twin bill. He walked five batters, struck out seven and gave up three hits.

In the nightcap, W-M pounded out 20 hits and scored 13 runs to win the slugfest.

"It was the first time of the year that we hit the ball well numbers one through nine in the lineup," W-M coach TJ Haguewood said.
