WALLA WALLA -- Applications are being taken for four openings on the Walla Walla County combined Human Services Advisory Board.
The deadline for applications is May 31.
Board members help the county Department of Human Services determine needs and set priorities for services. They also assist in evaluating and monitoring mental health, chemical dependency, developmental disabilities and poverty plans and service delivery. Board members provide recommendations to the department and county commissioners in each of the service delivery programs.
Applicants need to have some background, personal experience and/or knowledge of mental health, chemical dependency and developmental disability issues. At least one-quarter of the board must be made up of people who have recovered from a chemical or alcohol dependency, so special emphasis will be made to identify and seat such applicants.
Board members meet monthly, usually on the second Tuesday afternoon of the month. Applicants must be residents of Walla Walla County and have no personal financial interest in county funded programs or other potential conflict of interest.
Information is available at 524-2505 or at 524-2920.
Applications are available on the Walla Walla County Web site at www.co.walla-walla.wa.us, or from the Walla Walla County commissioners' office, 314 W. Main St., in Walla Walla. People may also call the commissioners' office at 524-2505.
Application packets may also be obtained from the Department of Human Services, 1520 Kelly Place, Walla Walla, or by calling the office at 524-2920.
