Lona Katsel, 67, passed away May 14, 2012, at Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla with her family by her side. A memorial service and potluck will be held Saturday, May 19, at 3 p.m. at Rooks Park in Walla Walla.

She was born June 17, 1944, in Echo, Ore., to Henry and Wilma Leroue. Lona grew up in the Waitsburg area where she met the love of her life and future husband, Lee Katsel. Mrs. Katsel was a homemaker and mother of five while her husband was a jack of all trades, construction worker, farmworker, delivery driver etc. Her interests revolved around her family. She devoted much of her time and energy to raising her five surviving children, daughters, Annette Amundson and Patty Farmer, and sons, Robin Katsel, Troy Katsel and Jeff Katsel.

Mrs. Katsel is survived by three sisters; four brothers; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers; and her husband, Lee Katsel.
