WWCC to open juried student art show

WALLA WALLA - The Walla Walla Community College 37th Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition opens May 24 and will run through June 4.

There will be an opening reception 1:30-2:30 p.m. May 24 in the Gallery, which is adjacent to classroom 117 on the WWCC campus, 500 Tausick Way. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Thirty to forty pieces are traditionally accepted into the show. Six equal merit awards of $75 are awarded for outstanding achievement in specific mediums.

Visitors to the gallery are invited to vote for their favorite work of art. The artist whose work receives the most votes will receive the $75 Peoples Choice Award.

The exhibit is open to any WWCC student who has been enrolled in a transfer level art class during the 2011/2012 school year.

The WWCC Art Department offers a variety of college transfer level art classes taught by Lisa Anne Rasmussen, Elizabeth Harris, Nanqi You, Margaret Jamison, Sara Wyman and Anne Bullock.
