Letters To The Editor - Where does church stands on same-sex marriage?

I want to encourage everyone to ask their local church to declare their position on same-sex marriage.

Unfortunately, not every church will have the same answer, but it is important to know where your church stands on this issue.

As the pastor of Blue Mountain Baptist Church I know we believe marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. This is what the Bible teaches is right.

An Old Testament word for righteousness means upright, straight, narrow. It means not wavering in commitment to God's commandments. God demands His people uphold the morality of the Scriptures even if people vehemently disagree with us.

I support Referendum-74 petitions to stop same-sex marriage from becoming law in Washington state in June of this year. The GREEN R74 will allow voters to have the opportunity to reject Senate Bill 6329 and same-sex marriage in November's election.

If you would like to sign a petition, stop by your local church. You know my church will have copies available.

The writer of Proverbs 14:12 wrote, "There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death."

It is the church's responsibility to lead in the ways of godly living.

Where does your church stand?
