Whitman baseball coach Holowaty resigns

WALLA WALLA - Whitman College head baseball coach Jared Holowaty has resigned to take a coaching position at his alma mater, Eastern Connecticut State University.

Holowaty will be an assistant coach at Eastern Connecticut, where he will work alongside his father Bill Holowaty, a coaching legend who has collected nearly 1,400 victories and four NCAA Division III national championship titles over the past 44 years.

"Working for Whitman College has been a great learning experience," Holowaty said. "I could not ask for a better group of colleagues. I appreciate the opportunities provided for me by the Whitman College athletic department."

Holowaty, who played for his father at Eastern Connecticut, was a senior captain on the team that won a national title in 2002. He joined the Whitman coaching staff late in the summer of 2009, following assistant coaching stints at the University of Maine, College of New Jersey, and Eastern Connecticut.
