Brown, Indians defeat Rangers to advance in 1B playoffs


YAKIMA - Touchet's Nicole Brown pitched a no-hitter and the Indians' bats battered Selkirk for 11 hits as the Indians beat the Rangers, 11-1, Friday to advance to the second round of the WIAA Class 2B softball playoffs at Yakima's Gateway Sports Complex.

The Indians scored three runs in the first, one in the second, four in the third and put a three-run dagger into the Rangers' hearts in the fourth to cross the 10-run mercy rule threshold.

Brown was dominant, striking out 12 of the 20 batters she faced and giving up just one walk and hitting one batter.

The Indians (16-5) face Almira-Coulee-Hartline this afternoon at 5.
