ELLENSBURG - Darryl Galloway's three-run double was a key hit during an eight-run second inning that helped power DeSales to a 13-7 victory over Mossyrock in the semifinals of the Class 2B state baseball tournament Friday afternoon at Rotary Park.
Travis Haen had three hits to lead an 11-hit Irish attack and Cam Richman added two.
The support was more than enough for starting pitcher Logan Hoeft - just one week removed from suffering an ankle injury in regional tournament action at Borleske Stadium. He finished all seven innings despite allowing seven runs and 13 hits.
"He threw so-so," DeSales coach Kim Cox said. "He was not comfortable, but he did what he needed to do to get us a win."
The Irish spotted the Vikings a first-inning run before scoring twice in their half of the first.
DeSales led 10-1 after two innings of play.
Mossyrock rallied with a run in the third inning and two more in the fifth before the Irish tallied three times in the home half of inning five.
The Vikings put up one run in the sixth inning and ended the game's scoring in the seventh on a two-run home run by Jordan Harper.
Tim Caudill scored three of DeSales' runs. Haen, Joe Duehn, and Adam Eskil crossed the plate two times each.
