ATHENA — Weston-McEwen dispatched Regis in three sets, 25-12, 25-12 and 25-19, Saturday afternoon in the first round of the Oregon Class 2A playoffs.

“We expected a tough match against a good team,” W-M coach Shawn White said. “We just played really well. The entire team played well in their respective positions. We came out on fire and executed very well.”

Danni Dearing led W-M with 11 digs, four aces and 23-for-23 serving.

McKayla Carlin was 15-for-15 from the serving lines and had 14 digs.

“It was back and forth at the start of the match,” White said. “We had great positional serving and good defense to back that up. They couldn’t get a good attack on us.”

W-M’s Molly von Borstel had 14 kills and 15 digs while Taryn Coffman had 21 assists and seven digs.

Marlene Bodmer was the team leader in blocks with four.

The TigerScots move on to the quarterfinals in Redmond Friday at Ridgeview High School. Their initial match will be Friday at 3:15 p.m. against Reedsport.

The tournament will run both Friday and Saturday in double elimination format.
