Oregon women's suffrage marked


PENDLETON — Umatilla County Historical Society will host NOT FOR WOMEN ONLY, a celebration of the 100th anniversary of Oregon women securing the right to vote, from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Vert Club Room and Little Theater, 480 S.W. Dorion St.

Storyteller and character reenactor Debbie Dimitre will give a presentation on Alice Paul. Harriet Isom will speak about Abigail Scott Duniway, Oregon’s most prominent suffragist.

NOT FOR WOMEN ONLY also marks the opening for the exhibit “Votes for Women! The Oregon Story,” which was created by the Oregon Women’s History Consortium. The exhibit will show at the Vert that day and then move to Heritage Station Museum, where it will run through Dec. 20.
