WALLA WALLA — The Whitman women swimmers nudged Pacific 104-101 Saturday and won in a close event 113-92 versus Lewis and Clark Saturday.
“The most interesting races Friday for the women were the breastroke in which we placed 1-2-3,” Whitman coach Jenn Blomme said. “Saturday the women took second and third in that same event. Against Pacific, it was our depth that won it for us. Because we only took first in two events and placed a lot of thirds and fourths to win.”
Whitman men swimmers won all but one event against Pacific and every single event against Lewis and Clark.
There were “some close races with the men but we outnumbered both teams in depth and talent,” Blomme said. “We weren’t quite as challenged as we might be further into the season.”
The team scores for the men were 156-43 against LC and 138-65 versus Pacific.
It was the second dual meet of the season for both teams and they rest undefeated.
Whitman hosts a 4-team invite next weekend Saturday at 1 p.m.
