WALLA WALLA — Starting Wednesday, extra officers will patrol local roads looking for drunk drivers.
The added combined extra force of police, deputies and highway patrol is part of the state’s new Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over program sponsored by the Washington Traffic Safety Commission.
Commission director Darrin Grondel urged people who plan to drink alcohol at holiday events to plan ahead.
“Don’t let a DUI ruin your holidays. Before you leave home for a holiday party, think about how everyone can get home safely. Designate a sober driver, take a taxi, stay the night,” he added.
The local Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign will be coordinated by the Walla Walla County Traffic Safety Task Force.
