It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in downtown Walla Walla.
About 60 posts have been wrapped in garlands and lights and adorned with ornaments throughout the downtown area.
City employees dressed the posts for the holidays Tuesday.
The holiday decorations have become an annual tradition signaling the start of the holiday season over the last several years. First started in 2010, the city and Downtown Walla Walla Foundation have been coordinating on the decorations as a way to spruce up the downtown core through the winter holidays. The LED-wrapped garlands and lighted star ornaments were initially purchased through the city’s restricted lodging tax revenues, which are dedicated to boosting the city’s tourism efforts. The decorations are maintained through the city’s Parks and Recreation Department.
