It will be the first peek at his completed sculpture, a 121/2-foot monument designed to commemorate the community's 150th anniversary.
The gala will be 6-9 p.m. at Foundry Vineyards, 1111 Abadie St. Appetizers, wine and art are on the menu. Attendees are encouraged to dress in black and gold. Photo identification is required to drink or purchase wine. Tickets are $25 and available at Book & Game Co., 38 E. Main St., or artwalla.eventbrite.com .
The work is a celebration of the community's heritage, local identities and authentic traditions. It was funded through the Donald & Virginia Sherwood Trust. Installation will be noon Dec. 4 at Heritage Park, where it will be gifted to the city as a permanent part of the public art program.
Small-cale reproductions of the commemorative piece will be available for purchase, as will other art collector treasures, at the gala.
