WALLA WALLA — Inmates in the “G” unit of the Walla Walla County Jail set off a fracas Friday night by refusing to cooperate with a lockdown.

According to a Walla Walla County Sheriff’s report, deputies and Walla Walla Police Department officers were called to assist when Ryan L. Farr, 30; Luciano Castorena, 25; Emanuel Panteleon, 21; and Steven Garcia, 23 refused to comply with the lock down at 8 p.m., on Friday.

The four men wrapped towels around their faces and spread soap and shampoo on the floor, according to the report. Farr was allegedly the instigator of the protest, and was yelling about mistreatment. According to the report, Farr threw a television at Walla Walla police Officer Kevin Huxoll, one of the first officers to enter the unit.

Officers shot Farr with a Taser, and arrested the other participants without incident, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Since some jail residents felt the TV was expendable there's not much point in replacing it. Apparently there was too much soap and shampoo available , too, so perhaps those items should be restricted.
