Southeast 2B League
Last year’s record: 19-4, District 9 champions
Kristin Potter; Dionna Baker; Kayla Huxoll; Ronnie Hulce.
Krystal Harris, 5-foot-8), senior; Katy Hofer, 5-8, senior; Samantha Moss, 5-4, senior.
Projected varsity squad
Harris; Hofer; Moss; Liz Xaudaro, 5-7, senior; Chelsey Brannock, 5-3, junior; Enedina Fuentes, 5-6, junior; Halley Dorman, 5-8, junior; Heidi Miller, 5-6, junior; Samantha Fedderson, 5-10, sophomore; Stacia Deal, 5-4, sophomore.
Waitsburg-Prescott graduated quickness (Potter) and rebounding strength (Baker and Hulce), but Harris returns for her senior campaign.
“We will depend on her (Harris). She’s the only returning starter we have.
“This will be Katy’s (Hofer’s) third year on the varsity team. Samantha (Moss) is a guard and we will rely on her (for ball handling).”
Brannock and Fuentes figure to play key roles in the back-court rotation.
Deal is being counted on to give W-P offensive fire power.
“She (Deal) will move up (from junior varsity) and will fit right in. She’s one of our better outside shooters.”
W-P will look to Fedderson, who is the tallest W-P player, and Dorman to provide rebounding and inside offense and defense.
The height-challenged inside game is an area of growth for W-P.
“We are not as strong, at this time, inside as we were last year. We have to get stronger as far as our inside shooting game. It’ll get better.
“Overall, we’re pretty quick up and down the floor. There aren’t too many in the league that have been as quick as Kristin Potter, but Brannock is pretty quick and will have to take on a lot of that Potter role.
“It’ll be a learning curve. We’ll have to work at it pretty hard, but the girls are willing to do that.”
