POLICE: Recent spate of heroin overdose calls raises concerns

The Walla Walla Police Department and Walla Walla Sheriff’s office have responded to numerous heroin overdose calls in the last 6-8 weeks. This raises the concern that heroin users may be getting a form of the drug that has a higher purity level than users in this area are accustomed to.

There is also a concern that the drug may have been laced or cut with unknown substances resulting in overdose and in at least two cases death. These reports have come in a short duration of time leading police to believe each are possibly linked by the same batch of heroin.

The City Police Department is actively investigating these cases and are looking for information from the public that may help identify the source and supply of heroin coming into the area. Anyone with information is encouraged to call local authorities. 527-4434
