MILTON-FREEWATER — La Grande steamrolled Mac-Hi Tuesday night in a Greater Oregon League volleyball match, defeating the Pioneers in three sets: 25-6, 25-15 and 25-12.
Mac-Hi coach Kaila Rodighiero credited La Grande with an excellent match.
“The score shows a really hard loss, but the girls were OK with it and so am I,” Rodighiero wrote in an e-mail. “I would have loved for some points to go our way but my girls battled against an extremely good volleyball team.”
Avery Wells posted five kills to lead the Pioneers in the loss, with Megan Reed and Jessica Dodd each adding three more.
Cheyenne Kessler went 10-for-10 in service.
“Our offensive game doesn’t show on paper, but we were aggressive,” Rodighiero said. “La Grande just defended their side very well.
“La Grande deserves much respect in their squad, and their offense is amazing. We had to play defense the best we could, and we did.”
