Missing players hamper Touchet in three-set loss

TOUCHET — Missing several players, Touchet dropped a three-set match to Garfield-Palouse Tuesday night, 25-8, 25-13 and 25-16, in Southeast 1B volleyball.

“It was a rough night,” Touchet coach April Miller said. “We are so small that it really takes all of us to make our team. We have a couple kids sick and/or ineligible, which left our freshman CierraJo McKeown forced to quickly learn a 5-1 (offense) instead of setting only in the backrow in our typical 6-2.”

Morgan Cardwell seved 12-for-12 in the loss with an ace and 10 digs to lead the Indians.

McKeown finished with eight assists and three blocks.

Chelsea Dowty had four blocks, Kristen Warner and Rachel Miller each had three.

“We also had some serious struggles with serve receive, and we just couldn’t get our offense going,” Miller said. “I hope everyone gets healthy soon.”

Touchet (1-6, 0-2 SE1B) visits Pomeroy Thursday at 6 p.m.
