ST. JOHN — Pomeroy won its third set with St. John-Endicott Tuesday in St. John, but couldn’t over come a two-set deficit as the Pirates fell, 25-18, 25-18, 23-25 and 25-22, to the Eagles.

“(We) need to improve our serving, and we need to show more mental toughness in tough situations,” Pomeroy coach Bruce Crossfield wrote in an e-mail. “(We) had to make some lineup adjustments due to injuries. Players made a good effort.”

Mackie Monahan led Pomeroy hitters with 16 kills. Savannah Ruark blocked seven balls and Emma Woodland and Ruark have five aces each.

Pomeroy (0-2 Southeast 1B, 4-8 overall) hosts Touchet Thursday at 6 p.m.
