LA GRANDE — Mac-Hi fell to La Grande, 3-0, Thursday afternoon in a Greater Oregon League girls soccer match.
Freshman keeper Samantha Tveidt made 17 saves on 20 shots on goal from the Tigers in just her second varsity match after filling in for an injured Alejandra Olmos.
“(It was a) well played all around game,” Mac-Hi coach Martin Martinez said. “The score doesn’t show it, but we maintained pressure all the way around. Coming into the game we thought La Grande was gong to be tougher, but we played well against them.”
La Grande, No. 4 in the latest OSAA rankings, has outscored opponents 45-1 through seven this season.
“We knew La Grande was going to be a tough game with the scores they’ve been putting up,” Martinez said. “They’re a well organized soccer team.”
The Pioneers (3-2-1, 1-2 in the GOL) visit Baker Saturday at noon.
