ATHENA — No. 7 Weston-McEwen lengthened its winning streak to 10 Thursday after dominating last-place Elgin in Blue Mountain Conference volleyball, 25-8, 25-10 and 25-12.
The TigerScots (15-3, 8-0 BMC) were balanced on offense, with seven different players smashing down kills.
“We controlled the match throughout,” W-M coach Shawn White said. “I was pleased with our execution offensively. We had some new things were were working on and the young ladies did a great job.”
Taryn Coffman put up 23 assists and two blocks in the victory.
Molly von Borstel led the offense with 11 kills while also picking up 11 digs.
Keegan Shepard and Marlene Bodmer each added six kills.
Lacey Kuehn had five kills and Melanie Sederburg two kills and two blocks.
Danni Dearing went 16-16 from the line with three aces and McKayla Carlin put up three aces to go with 11 digs.
“Any time you’ve got balanced offense its a good thing,” White said. “We’ve always had our offense fairly balanced, they did a really good job gettig themselves into position to terminate balls and scores points in bunches.”
Weston-McEwen visits Stanfield Saturday for a duel meet with Stanfield and Union.
