STANFIELD — Weston-McEwen continued its run through the Blue Mountain Conference ranks Saturday, defeating Union and Stanfield at a duel meet in Stanfield that saw the TigerScots run their league record to 10-0 and improve their winning streak to 12.
The TigerScots (17-3 overall) defeated Union 25-22, 25-13 and 25-18 before crushing the hosts 25-10, 25-9 and 25-9.
“I was very pleased,” W-M coach Shawn White said. “We played consistently and we were in control of both matches — all 6 sets. We had a few errors in the first set (against Union) that let it be closer than it should have been, but we really controlled both matches and played well all day.”
Taryn Coffman and Molly von Borstel teamed up again for another terrific performance at the net. Coffman served up 62 assists to go with five blocks, while von Borstel slammed down 29 kills, scored six aces and dug 27 balls.
McKayla Carlin had 42 digs and five aces.
Keegan Shepard had 15 kills; Lacey Kuehn seven kills; Marlene Bodmer nine kills, five blocks; Melanie Sederburg seven kills, four blocks; Danni Dearing 18 digs, five aces; Melina Baker 14-of-15 from the line with an ace; Madison Carlin nine digs; and Natalie Arnold 10 digs.
“We are playing very well right now and the good news we’ve got a lot of room to improve, and we are consistently improving,” White said. “That’s the good news. We’re putting together a real nice season, but we’ve got to keep getting better if we’re going to keep beating these teams.”
The TigerScots host a duel meet with Grant Union and Irrigon Saturday at noon.
