Severed cables flummox Alaska Airlines ticketing system
For five hours Monday, Alaska Airlines' computerized ticketing system was shut down by a severed cable in the Midwest and another between Tacoma and Portland.
The airline had to cancel 78 Alaska and Horizon Air flights, delaying some 6,800 passengers. The biggest delays were at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
The airline said customers who had bought tickets for Oct. 8 or today could cancel their flights and be refunded their unflown airfare.
