LA GRANDE — Mac-Hi lost to La Grande in three sets Tuesday night in Greater Oregon League volleyball, 25-8, 25-9 and 25-12.
The Pioneers suffered a similar fate a week ago, Oct. 2, when the Tigers took another match in three in Milton-Freewater, 25-6, 25-15 and 25-12.
“I have said this both times we have played La Grande — the score did not reflect how we played,” Mac-Hi coach Kaila Rodighiero said. “The girls were positive and played with their heads up, we rallied with La Grande, they just finished out final plays a little better than we did. We didn’t do much wrong and I was pleased with how my girls played.”
The Pioneers weren’t able to mount much off an offense against the stout La Grande (11-2, 5-0 GOL) defense.
Mackenzie Fite served eight-for-eight, and Avery Wells and Megan Reed served four-for-four each.
Wells, Reed and Jessica Dodd each had a kill.
“We were very aggressive on the net,” Rodighiero said. “La Grande just dug up what we hit at them.”
The Pioneers (3-7, 1-4 GOL) visit GOL opponenty Ontario Saturday at 2 p.m. (3 p.m. MDT).
