Prostate cancer meeting, screening planned

WALLA WALLA — Providence St. Mary Medical Center is presenting a free panel discussion on prostate cancer detection and treatment on Tuesday, 7 to 8:30 p.m., in the Providence Room. Dr. James Cunningham, medical director of the Providence St. Mary Regional Cancer Center, will moderate the discussion. Panel presenters include urologists David Hutton and John Sislow, radiation oncologist Spencer Ashton and St. Mary’s clinic trials coordinator, Kathleen O’Connor.

The hospital is also offering free prostate screenings, on dates different than previously published. Those will be Oct. 22 and 23, 5-7 p.m., at St. Mary’s cancer center, for men age 50 and over, and for younger men with a father or brother who has had prostate cancer. The digital rectal exam is free. An optional prostate specific antigen blood test is available for $20. Appointments required for the screening. Call 522-5700.
