They were honored with time at a beach-front condo in Carlsbad, Calif., earlier in the year and a small gathering of family and friends celebrated at the Blue Palm in Walla Walla on their anniversary.

They married Aug. 17, 1952, at the Walla Walla Seventh-day Adventist Church. Maxine’s maiden name is Wright.

Afterward, he worked 15 years for the Walla Walla Valley Federal Credit Union managing the Corps’ branch office.

Maxine managed the Walla Walla College snack bar for four years then was branch manager for the College Place Adventist Cook Center for 29 years.

They enjoyed camping, travel and time with family. They are members of the Village Seventh-day Adventist Church in College Place.

They have two children, Gary Rogers of College Place and Lynette Bates of Loma Linda, Calif; a grandson, Jonathan Bates of Sandpoint, Idaho; and three great grandchildren.
