BAKER — The hometown Bulldogs amassed 501 yards of offense — 352 passing and 149 rushing — and coasted to a 56-0 victory over Mac-Hi in the Greater Oregon League football opener for both schools Friday night.
The Pioneers managed just 162 yards of offense. Jeffery Jones was a bright spot with 78 yards rushing.
Baker scored 20 points in the first quarter and never looked back.
The Bulldogs are now 5-1 overall.
Mac-Hi is 1-4.
“They were big, fast, and have a really good quarterback,” Mac-Hi coach Tim Hutchison said. “The boys played hard, but ran into a buzz saw. They (the Bulldogs) are legit.”
Hutchison praised the efforts of lineman Dalton Wesner and defensive back Dylan Shuler.
“Dylan had a really good game,” Hutchison said. “Dylan played a heck of a game at corner.”
The Pioneers play their final regular-season home game next Friday against La Grande.
“The boys will be prepared,” Hutchison said. “Our guys are hungry for a win and are ready to take that step. They have a positive attitude.”
