WALLA WALLA — Excessive speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the fatal rollover crash on Lower Dry Creek Road on Sunday evening, according to the Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office.

John V. Silva III, 24, of Spokane was driving, Undersheriff Edward Freyer said this morning. Silva was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred around 6:50 p.m., officials said.

His passenger, Sarah Morgan, 24, of Colfax, suffered minor injuries, according to Freyer.

“Apparently she had a seat belt and he did not,” Freyer said.
