COLLEGE PLACE — The Walla Walla University Church will hold a 50th anniversary celebration on Saturday.
At 10:30 a.m., in WWU’s Fine Arts Center Auditorium, Terrie Aamodt, professor of history, will give a special presentation on the history of the church community. At the end of program, the group will be led in a reenactment of the walk made 50 years ago from Columbia Auditorium to the new sanctuary, where the group will be greeted with trumpets, as the original marchers were.
At the 11:30 a.m. church sanctuary service, Alex Bryan, senior pastor, will discuss why history and traditions matter. Music from the 1962 church dedication service will be incorporated into the program as well as a commemorative hymn written by Bryan and Kraig Scott, the church’s minister of music. The service will also include reflections from church members who made the original march.
The church currently serves 2,400 members.
