Walla Walla County Emergency Management is channeling social networks to provide new outlets for delivering information.
The agency has started Facebook and Twitter accounts as additional ways to keep local residents in the loop.
In an announcement Tuesday, Emergency Management Technician Liz Jessee said the social sites will provide residents with relevant and informative disaster preparedness and response news and information. Announcements on upcoming events will also be provided.
The sites provide a channel of communication where residents can ask questions, too, Jessee said.
Followers are encouraged to send suggestions on the type of information they’d like to receive.
The organization that leads mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery planning for major disasters can be found on Facebook under Walla Walla County Emergency Management and on Twitter under @WallaWallaEM.
