Irish fall to Tri-Cities Prep, 25-17, 25-12, 25-22

WALLA WALLA — Tri-Cities Prep defeated DeSales handily Tuesday night in Southeast 2B volleyball, 25-17, 25-12 and 25-22, but first-year Irish coach Hailee Cole still liked what she saw.

“I am very pleased with the way the girls played tonight,” Cole said. “The last couple games we’ve been in a bit of a slump, so it was important to me that they went out, competed hard and had fun, and they did that.”

The Irish spread the ball around Tuesday, with Alyssa James leading the offense with six kills and a pair of digs.

Teresa Acock had 14 digs; Renee Roach five assists, 8-for-9 serving and five digs; Brittany Lemons 2 kills, five digs and a block; Ashton Montgomery three kills, 10-for-11 serving, two aces and nine digs; Claire Conley one kill, 9-for-9 serving, two aces and three blocks; Hannah Leahy five kills, 8-for-8 serving, an ace and five digs; and Allesyn Lyons eight assists and seven digs.

“Tri-Cities Prep serves the ball incredibly well, and has real power hitters, so I was very impressed with the way the girls stuck in there until the end and never gave up,” Cole said.

The Irish (1-7 SE2B) visit Dayton Thursday at 6 p.m.
