Knights pick up huge win over Asotin


ASOTIN — Walla Walla Valley Academy won a Southeast 2B League volleyball match over Asotin here Tuesday, 18-25, 29-27, 18-25, 25-18, 15-9.

“This was a hard-fought match with a lot of great rallies against the first-place team in our league,” Knights coach Scott Schafer said. “The team did a great job of keeping focused during the match and fought back hard when things were sliding away.”

Megan Gregg was 29-for-31 serving with seven aces, 15 digs and 19 kills for WWVA.

Amy Arnzen was 16-for-18 serving with two aces, 15 kills and 20 digs, Helena Brown dished out 32 assists and was 9-for-9 serving, and Caroline Larson picked up eight blocks.

“Both Amy and Megan had season-high kills and great serving!” Schafer said. “In addition, Caroline controlled the net with great blocking.

“An overall phenomenal effort tonight!”

The victory leaves the Knights at 7-1 in league, 10-5 overall, as they host Tri-Cities Prep at 6 p.m. Thursday.
