MILTON-FREEWATER — Baker defeated Mac-Hi in four sets of Greater Oregon League volleyball Tuesday, 25-11, 25-19, 14-25 and 25-18.
“The first game, we weren’t clicking,” Mac-Hi coach Kaila Rodighiero said. “We weren’t adjusting to Baker’s offense, then in the second game we started adjusting. But by the time we started clicking, we were just in too big of a hole.
“In the third set we beat them pretty well,” Rodighiero said. “In the fourth set they changed their tactics a little bit and it took us getting in about a 10-point hole before we adjusted. Tonight we just struggled to adjust to their offense.”
Mac-Hi (1-6 in the GOL) has two matches remaining before the end of the regular season and hosts Ontario Saturday at 2 p.m. in a battle for the league’s third place.
“That was huge for us,” Rodighiero said of beating Baker. “We haven’t beat Baker in a game for years. I just hope we take that positive energy into Saturday’s match, because that determines who places in league or not.”
Megan Reed went 13-for-13 from the line for Mac-Hi, while also serving up two aces, five kills and 14 digs.
Mackenzie Fite went 13-for-15 from the line with a pair of aces; Kassidy Harris 15-for-15 with three aces; Avery Wells had five kills; and Cheyenne Kessler had four kills and 12 digs.
