PRESCOTT — Waitsburg-Prescott left no doubt this time when it defeated Walla Walla Valley Academy, defeating the Knights 5-0 in a Southeast 2B soccer victory.
WWVA had previously forced overtime before falling on a sudden-death goal, 3-2, on Oct. 9th in College Place.
“We controlled the ball on the offensive end a lot,” W-P coach Jay Potts said. “We were very patient and we had a lot of people involved. We did what we wanted to do today.”
W-P runs its league record to 4-0 as it finishes SE2B play and has three games remainging on its schedule before it will face District 7’s (Spokane) No. 2 seed to earn a state berth.
Jesse Aldarran scored in the third minute on an assist by Aldair Escalante to open scoring.
Escalante ran the score to 2-0 before the half with a goal on a penalty kick in the 23rd.
Lino Diaz and Luis Garcia scored goals in the second half to put the game out of reach before W-P picked up a final goal as time expired on a WWVA misplay.
“We came ready to play today,” Potts said. “We controlled the entire game and we were very patient.”
W-P hosts Oregon foe Irrigon Friday.
