Wine travelers have spoken and rank Walla Walla as one of their favorite destinations.
The community was selected as one of the top 10 U.S. wine destinations in TripAdvisor’s 2012 Travelers’ Choice Wine Destinations awards.
According to an online post, winners were selected based on their popularity. Travelers’ reviews and opinions on wineries, restaurants, attractions and accommodations were all taken into account.
Walla Walla was listed in the eighth spot on the list. Here’s what TripAdvisor said: “Wineries are beginning to rival the sweet-tasting Walla Walla onion as the hallmark of this lovely town at the foot of the Blue Mountains. In fact, the combination of excellent wineries and appealing scenery has put Walla Walla on the map as one of the hottest new wine-touring regions in the U.S. Try excellent syrah, merlot and cabernet sauvignon.”
Others on the list: Sonoma County, Calif.; Napa Valley, Calif.; Willamette Valley, Ore.; Finger Lakes, N.Y.; Long Island, N.Y.; Paso Robles, Calif.; Temecula, Calif.; Palisade, Colo.; and Plymouth, Calif.
