SPOKANE — Central Valley kicker Austin Rehkow broke a Washington 11-man record set more than 80 years ago with a 67-yard field goal Thursday night in Central Valley’s 62-55 win against Shadle Park.
Rehkow kicked the record-setting field goal to tie the game at 55 as time expired. That broke the previous mark of 62 set in 1929 by Kent’s Kelly Imhoff.
The national record is 68.
According to ESPN.com’s Mason Kelley, Rehkow has a partial scholarship offer from Eastern Washington.
Rehkow made field goals of 52 and 56 yards earlier this season.
In the same game, Shadle Park quarterback Brett Rypien broke the state’s single-game passing record by throwing for 577 yards.
The previous record was held by Monroe’s Joey Roppo, who threw for 516 yards in 2010.
Rypien’s uncle is Mark Rypien, the former Washington State and NFL quarterback.
