KENNEWICK — Wa-Hi’s volleyball team is now focused on Thursday’s district-tournament-opening match at Pasco after dropping a three-set Mid-Columbia Conference match to Kennewick here Thursday night.
The Lions downed the Blue Devils, 25-16, 25-20, 25-15.
The loss leaves Wa-Hi at 1-13 in MCC play, 2-13 overall.
“We’re just focusing on resetting (for the Pasco match),” Wa-Hi assistant coach Kim McDaniels said. “Practice time is practice, but we want to make sure we bring that into game situations despite the pressure.
“We’re a young team, and we have to build up toughness,” she said. “We four days of practice, we can do it.”
On Thursday night, Madi Doepker and Sierra Carman both had six kills, Torri Crawford picked up four kills, Katie Greene and Jamie Quaresma had eight and nine assists, respectively, and Kassidy Willard recorded 16 digs.
“We improved a lot of things from our game on Tuesday (a loss at Richland),” McDanield said. “We’re serving really well, but we kind of went back to the beginning of the season (with some of their play.
“We kind of geared up for next Thursday at Pasco.”
A Blue Devil victory over Pasco would advance them to tournament play on Saturday, most likely against Chiawana in Richland.
