PILOT ROCK — Weston-McEwen saw its 15 game volleyball winning streak come to an end here Saturday in Blue Mountain Conference action.
Heppner avenged an earlier loss to the TigerScots with a 19-15, 25-20, 25-13, and 26-24 win over W-M.
“Heppner is very good,” TigerScot coach Shawn White said. “It was a combination of mistakes by us and their execution. They played their game and we didn’t do what we needed to do.”
The TigerScots bounced back to start another winning streak with a 25-15, 25-12, and 25-10 sweep of Pilot Rock.
“We were not pleased (with the loss to Heppner),” White added. “But, we came back and took care of business.”
The win runs the TigerScot BMC record to 14-1 and clinches the BMC conference title and No. 1 seed to Saturday’s District tournament.
In Saturday’s split, Molly von Borstel led the TigerScots with 26 kills and 37 digs. Setter Taryn Coffman handed out 48 assists and came up with 32 digs.
Lacey Kuehn with 14 kills, Marlene Bodmer with nine kills, Melanie Sederburg with eight, and Keegan Shepard with six kills added to the TigerScot hitting offense.
McKayla Carlin added 22 digs to the TigerScot defense. Sederburg had four blocks and Bodmer added three blocks. Maddie Carlin dug 14 hits, Natalie Arnold was a perfect 15-of-15 from the service line.
The TigerScots close out the regular BMC season at Elgin Tuesday before returning home to host Pendleton Thursday in a non-league match.
W-M plays for the District Title Saturday in Stanfield.
