Waitsburg-Prescott downs Irrigon, 5-1
PRESCOTT — Waitsburg-Prescott defeated Irrigon Knights, 5-1, Saturday afternoon in non-league action.
W-P got two goals from Lino Diaz in the fourth and 16th minutes to build a 2-0 lead.
Diaz was assisted by Jesse Albarran and Ernesto Valdonvidos.
Enrique Balderas scored in the 37th on an assist by Aldair Escalante.
Escalante added a fourth goal on a Fernando Torres-Escalante assist in the 42nd. Rodrigo Gonzales scored unassisted in the 52nd.
“It was one of our better games passing-wise,” W-P assistant coach Jay Potts said. “We passed and controlled the ball really well. We continue to get better.”
Sergio Gonzales played goalkeeper for W-P and had nine saves.
W-P plays two more games this week. Tuesday they will play at Riverside-Christian and Saturday they play at Northwest Christian.
The following week they will host a loser-out district playoff game.
