PASCO — Wa-Hi saw its season end Thursday night in Pasco when it fell to the Bulldogs in four sets of a Mid-Columbia Conference playoffs qualifier, 25-20, 25-27, 25-21 and 25-22.
The match came down to scrappiness, Wa-Hi assistant coach Kim McDaniels said, and Pasco (2-11) proved the scrappier.
“It was a battle, our girls really wanted it,” McDaniels said. “It came down to defense — who was not going to let that ball drop. They beat us there.”
Sophomore Madi Doepker led the Blue Devils with 14 kills on the night. Reece Carman (12), Torri Crawford (8) and Sierra Carman (7) rounded out the Wa-Hi kill leaders.
Jamie Quaresma set for 29 assists and Jacie McDaniels had 10 digs.
Both Crawford and Sierra Carman graduate this spring, with Crawford set to attend the University of Idaho on a volleyball scholarship.
“We saw a tremendous amount of leadership tonight and throughout the season from our seniors, so they’re definitely going to be missed,” McDaniels said.
“Our upcoming juniors and sophomores will have some big shoes to fill,” she said. “We’re definitely going to miss Sierra and Torri.
Wa-Hi ends the season with a 1-13 record in Mid-Columbia Conference play, with its only league victory coming over the Bulldogs on Oct. 4.
