WALLA WALLA — Walla Walla County commissioners will continue their discussion on how to balance the 2013 budget this week.
Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Public Health and Legislative Building, 314 W. Main St. Items to be discussed include the preliminary budget and requests from elected officials and department heads, as well as the process to balance the budget.
Meetings between commissioners, elected officials and department heads in late September and early October have failed to resolve a $1.9 million gap between projected revenues and expenditure requests.
Commissioners must prepare a balanced budget for adoption following a public hearing on the final budget on the first Monday in December. This year that meeting is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 3.
Copies of the preliminary budget are available online on the county website, and people may download and make copies of any portions of the document on which they may have questions to bring to the meeting.
Due to the size of the document and the fact it is a preliminary draft, copies of the preliminary budget will not be available for distribution at Tuesday’s meeting.
