Are you and your family better off today?

Answer to Dean Hilliard about the middle-class needing help:

I do agree with Dean, but I don't agree with his assessment of the candidates we can trust or not trust.

Yes, Romney made a fortune buying troubled companies that were failing. He tried to save them, and if it worked he made money. I'm sure he didn't close any with profitable futures.

Overseas accounts. If you are making money overseas, where do you bank?

Romney did give away a huge amount of money and has for years. Why is it a sin to not take full credit for it? Because he knew the Democrats would vilify him?

And they are.

Why are you not asking Obama and his administration why they took so long to call the Benghazi attack a terrorist act? They were trying to hide their incompetence.

How about the untrusted candidate?

He has led the "American Dream." Explain how he paid for all the high-priced universities, since his parents didn't. I have researched this, why don't you? You will be amazed where his financing came from!

This past four years of a recession/depression that was caused by the "Community Reinvestment Act" of 1999, signed by Clinton, where the banks had to make loans to home buyers who were not qualified, the Bush administration went to Congress 17 times to try to fix this but was rebuffed by Frank, Dodd, Reid and Pelosi after the Democrats took full control of Congress in January of 2007. Do your homework and you will find out what I did. I also have that on file, just ask.

Obama's high road in diplomacy leads me to ask, why is the Middle East and Obama's Muslim world on fire?

By the way, the war in Iraq ending started with Bush, although it ended on Obama's watch.

How about Obama's accomplishments? More than 23 million unemployed or under-employed, few jobs for graduates, $6 trillion in debt in 3.5 years, two downgrades in the USA's credit rating, gas up, groceries up and health care through the roof.

Now ask yourself, are you and your family better off today than you were four years ago?

It's an election year, and hopefully the American public gets to prove they aren't that stupid again.

The part in this editorial that really matters is the $6 trillion in new debt. Rather you support the Left or Right, how much brains does it take to spend $6 trillion like Obama has? Yes, if Obama would have have put into place policies that would grow businesses and create wealth producing jobs, and the people who ran those businesses, and worked at those businesses, spent the money, great. But, that is clearly not what happened. Obama borrowed the money and literally gave away the money to the people and businesses he liked the most (which is why he will win the election). When Obama took office in Jan of 2009, the national debt per the U.S. Treasury's website was $10.6 trillion, right now it is $16.2 trillion. The children, who we claim to care so much about, are going to have to pay back that $16 trillion in some way or another. And how are they going to pay it back with no decent jobs? Unfortunately, that is exactly what the Republicans will do, if they are elected, borrow and spend. Just as an example. When Reagan took office in Jan of 1981 the national debt was $1 trillion, when he left office 8 years latter it was $2.5 trillion, Reagan and Congress grew the economy, but they borrowed $1.5 trillion to do it, and that was 30 years ago. The only thing the politicians know how to do is to borrow and spend. And if you look at the history of the national debt in this country in the last 40 years, you can't help, but see it. You are all hoping that this debt will never have to be paid back, but unfortunately, at some point, it will be paid back like with all debt, either by hard work or bankruptcy. And it looks like bankruptcy is the track we are on and have been for a very long time.

If we had loaned money to green energy companies that were squandered and have since on bankrupt our debt would be just half of what it is today. That's all on the Democrats table!

Are we better off? We can buy a CAR built in Detroit instead of China where Mitt would have sold its Bankrupt Pieces. Are we better off than when President Bush ordered the Military to NOT go after Bin Laden at Tora Bora; but to wait until the CIA could fly him to Pakistan because the Bin Laden's are the Business Partners of the Bush Oil Interests? Are we better off than when the World considered us PARIAHS because of Kidnapping and Torture and the killing of Hundreds of Thousands in IRAQ in a War of DISTRACTION? Would we be better off if a Man who is so Criminal in his business dealings that he dare not reveal his Tax Returns lest we find out how he makes his Money had the Country in his clutches? I'm sure MITT would be Better Off with the USA becoming a Feudal Estate of the Wall Street that tried to destroy us - but not the rest of us SLAVES.

onestarman - you must only read and espouse only certain portions of the content of what you have read. You blame Bush for Bin Laden? What did Clinton do with him when he was told that they had Bin Laden in there sights? Nothing! What did Clinton do with the USS Cole, the World Trade Center other than being entertained in his office. And to spew stuff about sending jobs overseas why don't you espouse about Obamas Jobs Czar Mr Immelt who has shipped over 60% of his company overseas. You seem to leave a lot of holes in your comments!

The QUESTION is are we Better Off - TODAY than with the LAST Guy? - and YES we Certainly Are. The IMPLIED Question is - would we Be Better Off with the OTHER Guy? and we ALL Know in Our Hearts that THAT would be a DISASTER.

Country is deeper in debt. My house is not worth as much. Pay 2.00 more per gallon of gas. Healthcare costs are going to be screwed up in Jan. .... Some of my friends are laid off... Is that called better off?

I don't know where you live but I am not better off today than I was 4 years ago - everything in my life is more expensive and the pay has not risen one iota. Pres Bush left us in good shape and its the incompetence and lack of leadership from this administration that has caused the US of A to be downgraded twice on our credit rating and with any hope at all we will have a change in the White House and we won't regress into another Greece.
