BANDON, Ore. — Despite forfeiting two matches here Sunday at the Bandon Crossing Golf Course, Walla Walla Community College’s men’s golf team outpointed Southwest Oregon 6 1/2-5 1/2 during the singles portion of the Lakers-Warriors Cup.
And that was more than enough to lift WWCC to a 19-11 victory in the two-day competition that combined Sunday’s singles play with Saturday doubles play in scramble, best-ball and scotchball formats.
In women’s play, Southwest Oregon used a 5 1/2-1/2 advantage in Saturday’s doubles competition to pull out a 71/2-2 1/2 victory. The women split four singles matches on Sunday.
Walla Walla’s Grant Geelan, Seb Moad, Ryan O’Mera, Nate Cole, Sean Anderson and Mike Ciez were winners in Sunday’s single match play. Andrew Grove earned a tie.
In women’s singles, Kelsey Bigness and Autumn Snyder were victorious.
The Warrior men’s doubles teams of Geeland-Grove and Sage Ceniga-Tannen Potter accounted for three points each as they swept their Saturday 9-hole matches. Brennon Lancaster and Jon Wilson won twice and tied their best-ball match while the O’Mera-Anderson and Moab-Cole Sajonia duos won two of three doubles matches each.
Snyder and Stephanie Bullock tied in scramble play to account for the WWCC women’s lone 1/2 point on Saturday.
