Wa-Hi fall teams earn WIAA academic awards


WALLA WALLA — Wa-Hi teams garnered WIAA State Academic Awards for fall athletics, based on combined GPA of team members.

Athletes’ previous semester grades are used to figure GPAs. The WIAA Distinguished Scholastic Award is awarded for team GPA of 3.0-3.49, and Outstanding Scholastic Award to team GPA of 3.5 and above.

Outstanding Scholastic Award winners at Wa-Hi included Wa-Hi’s varsity boys and girls cross country, girls swim and volleyball teams, as well as junior varsity girls cross country, girls swimming and “C” volleyball teams.

Distinghished Scholastic Award winners were the varsity girls soccer team, JV girls soccer, boys cross country and volleyball, and frosh football and volleyball squads.

The Blue Devils’ girls varsity cross country team also had a team GPA of 3.979 and was Class 4A girls cross country state academic champions for the third year in a row.
