HERMISTON — Weston-McEwen finished the Hermiston Invite Saturday in sixth place out of seven teams after going 1-2 in pool play and falling to Baker in the championship bracket.
The TigerScots fell to Pendleton, 25-15 and 26-16, to open pool play and later fell to Southridge, 25-19 and 25-14.
W-M then defeated Burns, 25-22 and 25-22, to pick up its first win.
The TigerScots won its first set over Baker, 25-11, but fell 19-25 and 12-15 to end the match.
“We played tough, just not consistent enough,” W-M coach Shawn White said. “It was against bigger schools and you can’t afford to make mistakes against them.”
Taryn Coffman set up the TigerScots with 56 assists and Molly von Borstel added 25 kills and 23 digs.
McKayla Carlin picked up 46 digs, Maddi Carlin dug up 19 and Natalie Arnold contributed 24.
Melina Baker was 13-for-13 from the line with two aces.
