Jazzercise welcomes new members with free classes

Jazzercise operators are pumped up about three new classes starting this week.

The new dance-fitness classes kicked off today and are intended to accommodate new participants as well as offer more choices for existing ones.

The new classes take place at 11:45 a.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at the Jazzercise Fitness Center, 23 1⁄2 S. Spokane St.

Throughout the month of September the classes will be free to new customers, so that local residents can try the workouts.

The additional classes bring the number of sessions offered through the downtown Walla Walla studio to 27, said owner Janet Byerley.

New instructors Kim Nemeth and Shellie Daniel have helped make the new classes possible, she said.

For those interested: Jazzercise classes are 60 minutes. They include a warmup, high-energy aerobic routines, muscle-toning and a cool-down stretch segment.

The program combines elements of dance, resistance training, Pilates, yoga, kickboxing and more in programs designed for every age and fitness level. Alternative formats — low impact and circuit training — are also available.
